Books On The Subject Of Salvia

Written by Annie on Jan 6th, 2009 | Filed under: General

Books on the subject of Salvia are few and far between. Fortunately there some pretty good ones out there.

One of the first books I picked up (and I got this straight from Amazon) is the Salvia Divinorum Grower’s Guide. The book — well, actually, it’s more of a pamphlet — is published by Spectral Mindustries and contains comprehensive, complete growing guides for everyone’s favourite visionary herb.

The book starts from the beginning, telling you how to obtain Salvia cuttings that you can start to grow the plant from. There are also source lists for seeds.

Personally I think the Salvia available over the Internet is pretty cheap as it is. I’m short on spare time, too, so I’m not going to attempt to actually grow the stuff. I did find the book an interesting read, though, and if you are intending to go down the self-grow route then this is the only way to do it.

Why not take one step back towards the natural and start growing your own produce. Vegetable patches are all the rage: why not your own Sally D stock? I’m not sure on the rules when it comes to this, but why not think about selling some on while it’s still legal?

Pipe For Salvia Smoking

Written by Annie on Dec 30th, 2008 | Filed under: General

One of the questions I get asked on a regular basis is “what is the best type of pipe to use when smoking Salvia”. As with so many things relating to the wierd and wacky world of Salvia Divinorum, there is no right answer. The answer will depend on you, the amount of you buy when you buy Salvia, and the type of Salvia you purchase when you buy Salvia.

If you do not have a pipe available, then I strongly suggest that you buy one — any type at all, to start with — when you buy Salvia. Because of its nature you can’t really smoke Salvia without a pipe. And while you can make a pipe, it won’t ever be as good as one that you can buy from the very same place that you buy Salvia. If you’re an experienced drug smoker than you will probably be okay in making an informed decision about what you use; other than that, you need to follow my advice and buy one pretty much from the start.

Using the pipe is a story for another article, but suffice to say you need to get the Salvia really, really hot. A good lighter is going to be on your list of necessary purchases, too.

People have found that Acai helps with weight loss

Written by Laura on Dec 16th, 2008 | Filed under: General

You may not know this, but what is commonly known as an Acai Berry, really isn’t a berry, but as a matter of fact, it’s a round drupe that is only around 1 inch wide and looks like a grape. This fruit is found in abundances of 700 to 900 individual drupes. A tree, on average, produces two crops every year. Inside this “berry” is a huge pit, or seed, that takes up to 80% of the entire mass of the acai fruit. Acai has surged in popularity because people have shown that acai helps weight loss.

The Caboclo people, of the Brazilian rainforest, are the ones that harvest the acai berry, and use this fruit as 42% of their nutrition.

Once the acai berry is harvested, it begins to degrade at a very fast rate, which makes it challenging to export to a surrounding area. For this reason, acai berries are made into several different products like preserves, juice, Acai Pills
, supplements and pulp. Acai supplements claim to be an incredible aid when trying to diet and acai promotes weight loss in the right diet. Even without the weight loss benefit of acai it is a valuable addition to your diet.

It has been claimed that a acai supplement can retain the majority of the properties and nutrients that start off in its raw form, and because of this, a supplement of an acai berry is a convenient and effects way of getting all of its goodness into your daily routine and helping acai help with weight loss.

A Very Memorable Salvia Trip

Written by Annie on Dec 15th, 2008 | Filed under: General

I’m a fairly regular Salvia user so it takes quite an amazing trip to be able to shock me. Fortunately I am able to report that I had just this trip yesterday. It was my most memorable trip for one main reason – the absolutely psychedelic hallucinations that I was subjected to. Amazing! Long after the trip had finished I was still sat back in awe. I don’t know what’s going on in my head by but my brain is more than happy to play some pretty funky visual tunes to me. Perhaps I’ve got problems.

So anyway. I’ll quickly try to describe what I saw during my brief Salvia trip: bear in mind that this was a hallucination from my warped brain so it’s not going to be easy for you to imagine the horrors in there!

First I grew an extra head. I was disappointed to note that I couldn’t move my ‘extra’ head independently of the other and that it just seemed to be a perfect mirror image of my ‘first’ head. Oh well.

Next, the fairy appeared. I’ll call her Sally (after Sally D – my favorite name for Salvia Divinorum). She was dressed in a divine green outfit (complete with matching handbag!) and she danced around the room gaily and apparently to music (though I could hear nothing but a strange buzzing sound).

How’s that for a memorable Salvia trip!?

There are no potential problems with Pure Acai

Written by Laura on Dec 9th, 2008 | Filed under: General

When Oprah Winfrey tells us to take notice of something wonderful, it really is a good idea to do so. When she recommends an excellent book on health foods and how they affect us, you can be sure that the book will enjoy record sales (which, by the way, it deserved anyway). If this excellent book that has been recommended on Oprah’s excellent TV show happens to tell us that a particular food — acai — is the best super food anywhere in the world, then you’d better be sure that that food is going to enjoy record sales, too.

So it was with acai. Recommended in a book by Dr. Nicholas Perricone which, in turn, was recommended by Oprah on her show. The strength of these two recommendations — and the announcement by a number of eminent doctors and health specialists that acai could be a very potent aid to dieting — has given rise to a number of products like Pure Acai.

Pure Acai is nothing other than freeze dried acai extract. It is not mixed with other fruits like an acai juice might be, nor is it turned into a preserve. Pure Acai is simply the pure extract from the acai fruit itself. It is billed as a dieting aid, and you can certainly see how something like Pure Acai would help.

Salvia: They’re Taking Our Civil Liberties

Written by Annie on Nov 30th, 2008 | Filed under: General

It is a shame that our civil liberties are being restricted to the point where a bunch of politicians can take them away from us just so they can win further political points; it is sadder still that the media seems to support this restriction wholeheartedly!

So it is with Salvia, the hallucinogenic plant that is completely legal in most US States. The states that make it illegal to use or buy Salvia can be counted on two hands, for the moment. Bills are in the pipeline that will make it a crime to buy Salvia; further moves are to ban Salvia on a federal level. It is, of course, game over completely when this happens.

Nobody stops to think about those of us that like to buy Salvia and use it on a purely social level. All the politicians see are the videos on YouTube and, from there, the free political points that they can rack up by making a move on it. If I want to buy Salvia then why can’t I?

Nobody thinks about the medical and scientific researchers that may be on the brink of a breakthrough with the drug. Salvia may have properties that make it suitable for treating diseases like Alzheimer’s; whether we can do anything with it may now be a moot point.

Why should you buy Acai

Written by Laura on Nov 24th, 2008 | Filed under: General

A super food is one that packs the maximum nutritional punch compared without other (non super) foods. Eating super foods can mean that we don’t need to complement the super food with as many other different types of food as would otherwise be necessary. Sound good? It is.

Acai is the greatest super food on earth. And don’t just take my word for it: Oprah Winfrey has said pretty much exactly the same thing on her acclaimed TV show. Oprah’s worlds have helped many people across the world make the decision to run out and buy acai. One wonders whether Oprah herself felt the urge to buy acai juices or acai preserves; and I suspect she did!

Think of it this way: not only is acai good for your since it contains lots of important things that help your body function more efficiently in the face of diseases and infections, but because you are getting more nutrition out of a portion of acai berry than you would in a similar sized portion of another food, you can actually eat less. If you decide to buy acai to complement your controlled diet then I think you’ve made a very good decision.

The question is: where to buy acai? Well, that’s easy, as it’s all over the web! Buy acai online and save yourself a lot of trouble.

Good fat, antioxidents, and nutrients abundant in Acai Berry

Written by admin on Nov 24th, 2008 | Filed under: General

There are lots of reasons why the acai berry has suddenly become one of the world’s top dietary supplements. Not only is it delicious and incredibly versatile, the acai berry contains lots of nutrients that really do help your body function better.

Most prominent in the long list of benefits provided by the acai berry is the large amount of antioxidants in the fruit. Antioxidants are touted as a benefit of red graphs (and of course by associated red wine) and they actually help you to age better. Another benefit of red grapes is anthocyanins which, it is thought, help combat serious illnesses like diabetes and cancer; the acai berry has as much as 30 times the anthocyanin content as the red grape.

Amino acids are reportedly excellent for helping your general health: improving your skin and strengthening your vital organs. The good news is that the acai berry has plenty of this.

One further benefit is fat. Not the bad sort, but the healthy mono unsaturated sort which can, in moderation, help with your digestion and even assist in improving your cardiovascular health.

It is difficult to imagine that one food can do all this: that is why the acai berry is the world’s most potent super food.

Acai preserves are best way to get all the acai goodness

Written by Laura on Nov 22nd, 2008 | Filed under: General

Pure, fresh and organic, Acai is nature’s most potent super food Not only is it wonderfully delicious and versatile (acai tends to appear in acai juices and acai preserves, but really you can make anything out of these little berries!), but it provides your body with a lot of the things that it really loves. Amino acids, antioxidants and essential omega fatty acids are all in the acai in abundance; it is being hailed as one of the best ways to help a controlled diet. There is no doubt about it: the little acai berry from the Brazilian rain forest is something that you will see a lot more of in coming months, and for all the right reasons.

Acai degrades very quickly after it has been harvested, and unfortunately this makes it almost impossible to transport in its fruit state. Fortunately those who distribute it have though around this and you can now buy a variety of different acai-based products like acai juice, acai preserves, and even acai powders and pills.

Some of these products are better than others, of course. The acai preserves are excellent because they essentially use the whole berry to make the acai preserve, rather than extracting some bit or other from it and hoping for the best! As an added bonus, acai preserves taste just like a fruity version of chocolate. Mmm!

Acai supplements rank among the best ways of getting Acai

Written by Laura on Nov 17th, 2008 | Filed under: General

Oprah Winfrey has a lot to answer for. Not only is she a leader of people and an icon for the world, she is responsible for introducing the majority of the world to the wonders of acai and the benefits of acai supplements. It was her feature on the book The Perricone Promise, written by Dr. Nicholas Perricone, that led to the world realizing acai for what it really was: the number one super food. Acai is not the only fruit mentioned in this wonderfully researched and excellently written book, but it does top the list in certain key areas of nutritional fulfillment.

Oprah’s expose of the book naturally led to a lot of interest in it and the fruits it covered. Acai products like juices, purees and particularly acai berry supplements enjoyed a fairly permanent — and deserved — boost in sales. NBC even covered acai and the benefits of acai supplements, telling us that it was able to deliver a massive amount of energy to anyone lucky enough to be able to enjoy it.

And in the past you would have to be lucky to enjoy it: acai cannot be transported outside the immediate area in which it is grown because of the speed with which it degrades. Lately products like acai berry supplements have made the dream of worldwide delivery of acai a reality.
