Acai Berry Purée: A Very Good Find

Written by Annie on Feb 23rd, 2009 | Filed under: General

For those of you that have been buying the acai berry juices sold by the large conglomerate supermarkets and stores, stop. Stop right there. The acai berry juice you are buying is not the real thing. Far from it.

Often the juices — even those that are advertised as being 100% pure acai — will be made out of a powdered form of acai berry that is easier to store. Even when the stores add a lot of water and reconstitute the dried acai, it can still technically be called 100%. So they do that.

In actual fact this ‘100% pure’ juice is nothing like the 100% pure acai berry purée that is actually available if you look online. On-line sellers are able to offer this because they do not require the storage and travelling time that the large conglomerates do. If the supermarkets tried to store this purée then it would be rotten by the time it had travelled through their extensive logistical system.

The juices sold in the super stores are tasty, and they may well contain acai; but it is nothing like the experience you get when you swallow a gulp of actual 100% purée Quite magical.
