Top Class Mexican Food At Iron Cactus, Austin, Texas

Written by Laura on Jan 26th, 2009 | Filed under: General

I went to the Iron Cactus in Austin, Texas on the strength of recommendations from friends as to the quality of the roof bar. This tequila bar is renowned for its excellent ambiance and, above all, the massive range of tequilas on offer. Some say that this is the largest range of tequila available in one place in the US, and frankly I believe that assertion.

But this is a Mexican restaurant, not a rooftop bar, and the place serves some really excellent Mexican food, too. I hadn’t intended to try the Mexican food while I was there, but the sight and smell of it — along with the clearly impressed recipients of said food — made me throw caution to the wind and give it a shot. Really, I was glad that I did. As well as the perfect Margarita, this place does a sublime tortilla soup. The other dishes were pretty impressive, too.

The Iron Cactus in Austin, Texas is well worth a visit whether you’re there to check out the tequila or the food. This is more than just a Mexican restaurant; more than a rooftop bar with ambiance, too. This is the complete package. I have returned many times and I can only recommend that you give it a shot.
